Wimbledon 2008

On Tuesday Frances and I went off to the All England Lawn Tennis Championships, commonly called Wimbledon!

We got up at 6:30am, and after sorting out our picnic, sun screen and negotiating all of South West London's public transport, we joined the queue for tickets at 9am. When joining the queue you get a queuing card, and we were officially numbers 2503 and 2504. The weather was stunning and conversation in the queue entertaining. By 10:15 we were paid up and in the grounds. Come 10:30 when the grounds were opened, we were moving off towards court no 3 to watch a bit of tennis action.

We watched the mixed doubles match on court 3, which was great! Cara Black and her team mate Paul Hanley were great and Cara was in the ladies doubles winning team in 2007.

After the mixed doubles we headed over to Henman Hill (or Murray Mount, or Robson Ridge in the near future) for our picnic and watched some of Venus Williams' game on the big screen. After that we picked up our strawberries and cream (free, compliments of my bank, HSBC) and found a seat at the packed court 18 to watch Pat Cash and Wayne Ferreira in the invitational doubles! It was fantastic and it was more of an exhibition match and they were exceptionally entertaining!

Below is a collage of the best pictures, and the rest can be found in the usual spot.

This is a fantastic album and if you have enjoyed any of Coldplay's stuff before, I think that you will love this. I have been listening to it cover-to-cover the last week and think it's fabulous!

I think that it's currently only available via download, but is available DRM-free in 320kbps MP3. My personal store of choice is 7digital.com.

Go on, treat yourself :-P

Book Signings

Another great reason to live in London is that at some point, your favourite author is bound to come around and do a book signing. Here we see Frances getting to meet the legend that is Terry Pratchett!
